So you need a vacation. The weather's nice, so why not hit the beach?



So here are the rules:

1. Comment with your character and put their name and canon in the subject line.
2. Do beach stuff with whoever threads with you. Go tanning. Collect seashells. Have a picnic. Swim. Surf. Visit the little resort. Almost drown. Reenact Baywatch. Get stranded at sea in a canoe. Day or night. Do your own thing.
3. There is no need for RNG here, just have fun. :)

[ She laughs - in an of course I'm not going to hurt him! sort of way - but at the mention of fish, she perks up. ]

Are they fish? Or mini sharks?

Little silversides, I think. [He bends, squinting.] And a lot of barnacles.

[ Now she's actually getting up, and stepping around some crevices and rocks until she stands right next to Jaime. ]

I didn't read about silversides in my book. [ But now she's very interested, and squats to splash at one and watch it swim away. ]

Probably cause they're about as common as flies and half as interesting. [He lowers a cupped hand into the water, just barely managing to catch one, lifting it so Myrcella can see.] They're just a regular old little schooling fish, but they've got that silver stripe that flashes in the light.

[ bad movie, jaime, because the second he has that little fish in his hands and she can peer down at it, she begins to grow attached. ]

Oh... Can we keep it?

[princetonprince]

He'd just die by the time you got him home, sweetie. [His voice is not unsympathetic as he gently releases it into the pool again.] They don't handle stress well.

[ she reaches for his hand, as if to stay the release of the little fish, but just brushes her fingers against his arm in vain and tearfully pouts. ]

But I want to keep him!

You'd just end up hurting him. And I don't think you brought anything to carry him in, did you? [Crap, if he makes her cry Cersei's gonna slap him.]

[ She's not crying yet. Yet. But sniffling, of yes, quite a lot. ]

N -...no.

[princetonprince]

[Crap. Distraction works on Mya, right?] Hey, look over here. [He goes to a different pool.] I think I see a hermit crab.

[ Works a little. Just a bit. She at least wipes her face with her hand. ]

Could I keep that?

[ She just has a lot of feelings, okay? She got six kittens out of Robert once. ]

We can definitely ask your mom. [See, if Jaime brings her to Cersei and Cersei makes her cry he's totally off the hook. And then he can even play good daddy uncle and hug her.]

[ That soothes her. While her mother is not nearly as much of a pushover as her father (fake father, that is) but she might be reasonable enough. Maybe if not from the beach, they could get one from a pet store. Or she could smuggle one home in her towel. ]

[ She sniffled and after watching the little creature crawl, she reaches down to pick it up. ]

[Jaime lets her play, looking into other pools to find anything else interesting.] Has Joffrey been nice lately? [Jaime is setting the smacking-Joffrey quota for the next month. Answer wisely, Myrcella.]

[ Oh, she's excellent at 'answering wisely' - has been doing it for years - and she even stops to peer up at him with polite interest in the question before answering. Her face is kept straight and she blinks at him with similar big green eyes. ]

Of course. He helped me with my homework on Monday.

Did you do good on it? [Good to know she can fake it, that's a valuable skill for dealing with grampa, but he wants the real answer too.]

I got a good grade on it, yes. [ An okay grade. She passed it. And now she looks at her uncle like he's silly for suspecting anything other than that answer. ]

Joffrey's older than me. He's taken all this stuff before, he knows things I don't.

[Snort.] Having taken the class doesn't mean he knows anything, sweetheart.

He knows plenty, Uncle Jaime. It's rude to imply otherwise.

We're family, we're allowed to be honest about each other. I'm sure he'd say some rude things about me.

He doesn't like you all the time. He doesn't like anyone all the time, and he doesn't have to. That's perfectly honest, Uncle Jaime. And it's not nice for you to talk about my brother behind his back.

So he doesn't like you and Tommen all the time?

[mothersbeauty]

He doesn't like to play with us. That's all.

[ Shrug. She is now letting the little crab crawl around in her palm. It tickles and no matter how much she wants to keep it, she doesn't know if she likes the feeling. ]

He's older.

What would happen if you asked him?

He tells us to leave him alone.

[ Loudly. And with swears. Sometimes pinches and shoving and pillows or books thrown. ]
